"I want to be somebody, someday, somehow." Sounds familiar? How many times have you heard these words being uttered, either by yourself or by someone in your life, at some point in your life? And how many times have you seen the people who have uttered these words actually make something out of themselves? Have you always wondered, in envy, why they've succeeded while you and the rest have not? The difference between the successful and those who aren't is simply a matter of having a blueprint.

Yes, you heard right. Blueprints. It is the very essence of a successful future, because without a blueprint, you would have no clear direction of where you're going. Just like those in the construction industry, you cannot build a future of success when you don't have a detailed plan on how to go about doing so. How will you erect the foundation of your own future when you lack the vital information of how to go about doing so? Without a structured plan, everything becomes chaos.

So how do you go about planning your very own success blueprint? Plan ahead, figure out what you're going to achieve and how you're going to go about it. Once you have a general idea of what you want to achieve, set goals for yourself.

Set checkpoints along the way, plan small milestones for you to achieve along your journey towards the big goal. Not only will you be able to keep track of your progress with these milestones, it will also be a good confidence booster knowing that you're on the right track towards success.

Once you've done this, the next thing you need to do is set yourself a realistic timeframe. Having set milestones for yourself, it's time for you to set out a schedule of sorts for when you'd like to achieve these particular milestones. When should you reach a milestone before moving on to the next one? How long should it take for you to reach that big finish at the end of your journey?

Timing is important in goal-setting, because if you don't set yourself a realistic target-date, you're going to end up feeling disappointed, and you'll be tempted to throw in the towel simply because you couldn't achieve your goal, even though you may have set yourself a timeframe (albeit an unrealistic one). The key to setting a timeframe for yourself is keeping it real. Remember, you make your own success, but success takes time, and there is no such thing as overnight success.

Being the designer of your own success blueprint means that you and only you are responsible for the outcome of your plan. You reap what you sow, and every decision, every action that you make will determine whether you succeed or fail in your efforts. No one can change the rules that you set for yourself, and having a detailed blueprint would mean nothing if you don't play by the rules you set for yourself.

Be focused and follow through with what you have planned. Any Tom, Dick, or Harry can dream big and yearn for more out of life, but not everyone has the focus to bolt themselves down and go through the ride till the end. Start designing your success blueprint today.
