71: Times Tables, the Key to Your Child’s Success?
Irvine, CA- When did you lose interest in math? Never had any? Maybe, but Eugenia Francis knows exactly when it started to happen to her son. The moment? The dread rite of passage all children fac
72: Metallurgical Engineering
Metallurgical engineering is problem solving or development of products using the engineering disciplines of materials science and metallurgy. If metallurgy is the development and production of metallic components, then a simple explanation of metallurgical engineering is optimizing the metallic elements and compounds for a specific function.
73: The Largest Dinosaurs to Roam the Earth
It's relatively unclear and practically impossible to judge exactly which species of dinosaur was the largest, due to the fact that many of the fossil remains discovered to date aren't totally complete. Partial fossils have been discovered relatively recently that allude to the fact that there may have been dinosaurs that were much larger than what scientists had perceived to have been the largest, but trying to judge based on the incomplete evidence that exists is a difficult task.
74: Alternative Energy - Reference
Our planet is blessed with a variety of alternative energy resources - many just waiting to be used. Most people immediately think of solar energy which utilises photovoltaic cells to capture energy from the sun and fortunately these cells are becoming more affordable. Solar energy power can be used for electricity, heating, and making hot water plus solar energy produces no pollution, as its input comes completely from the sun's rays. Although there is still a great deal of work to be done to make this an economically viable solution for the long term. On problem still to be overcome is storage of the collected power for 'night-time' use and when there the sunshine is not at its best.
75: Frankenstein Remembered
When you think of the Frankenstein movies, names like Boris Karloff, Colin Clive, Mary Shelley and James Whale come to mind. But have you ever heard of Kenneth Strickfaden? Long overlooked in the annals of horror movie fame, Strickfaden is the man whose electrical designs made Frankenstein the movie that it is. He was called "Dr. Frankenstein's electrician" and was directly responsible for all of the electrical effects used in the monster creation scene. He also created all the electrical effects for the subsequent Frankenstein sequels. He was even a stunt double for Boris Karloff, who was deathly afraid of electricity.
76: Let's Know More on Science Related Issues
Botanical prints are considered a fusion of art and science, and there are many books and websites today that detail the scientific importance of these prints. While we talk of big things like "Global warming," "Green House Gases" and such other impending disasters, we are doing little precious either in understanding these interrelationships or our scientific community has not been able to keep pace with the enormity and complexity of ecological relationships.
77: Visiting the Landfill and Recycling
For years I've been someone who never really finished the thought; when I throw something away it goes...
78: An Introduction to Home Energy Systems
The words home energy systems are usually associated with solar energy. This is because the most popular residential energy system is the conversion of solar energy for electricity or water heating. There are two main types of solar energy, light and thermal. Light energy, from the sun, is harnessed by a collecting medium then transformed into electricity. Thermal energy, which is derived from the heat of the sun, is used to directly warm household water and swimming pools.
79: Is Israel Swapping Nuclear Bombs for Battle-Ready Robots?
Well, currently Israelis are not bartering for Robots (to the best of our knowledge) but in the second decade of the 21st Century that is exactly what’s happening! From the first chapter of Howard Sm
80: The Risks Of Radiation Exposure
What is radiation sickness or poisoning? Radiation poisoning is illness and symptoms resulting from exposure to high doses radiation. Sometimes the exposure is accidental or intentional (as in radiation therapy).Your daily treatments will probably be scheduled Monday through Friday, allowing you to rest on weekends. Your daily appointment schedule will be as convenient for you as possible. Your radiation therapist will notify you of any holidays on which you will not receive treatments.
